I spawned in a Plains biome<\/p><\/div>\n

While John and I were watching the movies Captain America: The First Avenger and The World’s End, I decided to Minecraft, create a new world and spin up a character in the shortest time possible. I spawned in a Plains biome, which was helpful for quickly gathering items I needed most.\u00c2\u00a0 When I start a new character, I have a standard kit I try to build up quickly:\u00c2\u00a0 Wood for a craft bench and tools, cobblestone for 3 picks, 2 axes, 2 swords, 1 shovel and a hoe.\u00c2\u00a0 I needed enough cobble to make at least one stove.\u00c2\u00a0 And I needed coal for torches and additional wood to use in the stoves for when I found iron for armor, or cows, pigs or chickens for food.\u00c2\u00a0 I set about gathering everything I’d need, including seedlings for more trees and grass seed to start a wheat crop for food.<\/p>\n

Next was finding wool to make a bed, probably one of the more critical needs the further away from the spawn point one travels.\u00c2\u00a0 Unfortunately, there weren’t any sheep in the immediate area, so it was time to leave the plains and move closer to the Jungle biome in the distance.\u00c2\u00a0 Luckily, I spotted sheep right away, and was able to get started on a home base.<\/p>\n

I didn’t have a lot of materials for a unique house, so my shelter started out as a dirt structure, the foundation of which I dug on the small island where the sheep were found.\u00c2\u00a0 I had to dig quickly as the sun was already setting and I didn’t have enough dirt to create a structure atop the ground.\u00c2\u00a0 Quickly getting walls and roof in place allowed me to work in a basement type structure overnight, while the spiders, zombies and creepers moved about outside.<\/p>\n

Overnight I was able to complete the first level, craft a bed and set a new spawn point, and get started on stairs to what would become the upper level of the house.\u00c2\u00a0 Looking forward to working on this a little more tomorrow.\u00c2\u00a0 For now, it’s time for bed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
